Lucille Margaret Goblirsch Clark, 98, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024.
Rosary will be at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, followed at 11 a.m. by Mass of Christian Burial, both at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 S Quebec Street, Centennial, Colorado. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 12801 West 44th Avenue Wheat Ridge, Colorado (immediate family members only).
Lucille was born December 18, 1925, in Green Valley, Minnesota, to Albert and Stella (Streff) Goblirsch. She was the third of twelve siblings. She grew up during the Depression, and the family moved often, as their father looked for work in towns across the Midwest. Lucille had many responsibilities at home, and she learned to work hard, a trait that continued her entire life. She was also an excellent student and a champion speller.
She moved to Denver in 1952 with her sister Dorothy to join their sister Genevieve. The three were not only sisters, but always the best of friends. On May 15, 1954, she married the love of her life, Edward Michael Clark, who could never believe his luck in persuading Lucille to marry him. He adored her until his death in 2018.
In Denver, Lucille worked as an executive secretary for the University of Denver and Gates Rubber Company, where she was valued as an excellent and diligent worker.
Lucille took her responsibilities seriously, and she was incapable of lying or of saying an unkind word about anyone. Her moral compass was unwavering. But she also loved to laugh! Her passions were Edward; her three children, Gregory (Kathleen), Gloria, and Dianne (Robert); and later her three grandchildren, Chelsea, Ryan, and Lia. No one could make her laugh more than Edward, and no one gave her more delight than her grandchildren.
Lucille was an excellent hostess and homemaker. She never tired of trying new recipes or baking enormous batches of Christmas cookies alongside Chelsea, Ryan, and Lia. She was also a fierce bridge player, skilled seamstress, and tireless housekeeper. If asked, she would flex her biceps that she developed by scrubbing floors and walls, not by working out in a gym! She was always, always busy—never, ever idle.
Her selflessness was truly remarkable, and her love for her family was unconditional and everlasting.
She was a devout Catholic, and her strong faith guided her throughout her life.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren; her sister, Mary Fox of St. John's, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
