Edouard Donald Valette was a model example of why the ""Greatest Generation"" was the greatest generation. He was a man who loved meeting new people and finding out where they were from and he had a knack for making each person feel special. He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1929, and passed away at the age of 87 on August 1, 2016 at his home in Louisville, Colorado. He married Marilyn Vanderae in 1952 at Keesler Air Force Base Chapel in Biloxi, Mississippi and honey-mooned in New Orleans. They celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary this past November. Throughout their lives, they lived in Illinois, Mississippi, Washington, Maryland, Iran, Arizona and Colorado. He was a quarterback for Pullman Tech, just outside of Chicago. He graduated with honors from University of Illinois with a degree in Engineering, and he received his MBA from George Washington University in Washington DC. He spent four years active duty and 26 years in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. At the same time as he was in the Air Force Reserves, he also worked full time for Westinghouse Corporation for over 30 years developing radar systems in which he was awarded patents for his work. Ed and his family were avid travelers abroad and lived in Iran for three years and traveled to over 20 countries throughout his life with his wife and three children: Brett Valette, Colette Valette and Julet Hutchens. He was a strong family man who always wanted to be surrounded by his wife, his children and his seven grandchildren, and that is how he left this world, surrounded by his whole family.
