Louisa Monahan, lovingly called Rusty due to her red hair, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on June 18, 2026.

Rusty was born on September 3, 1931, in Albert City, Iowa. She later met the love of her life, Jack Monahan, in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple married and shared 54 years together before Jack's passing. They eventually made their home in the Denver area, where Rusty devoted herself to raising their family in Arvada and creating a warm, loving home for all who entered it. 

Family was always at the center of Rusty's life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched everyone she met. She was known for having a heart of gold and was often described as the very best mom, grandma, wife, and aunt anyone could ask for. 

Rusty was also a dedicated volunteer who gave generously of her time to Lutheran Medical Center. For 30 years, she welcomed patients and visitors from her post at the front desk, becoming a familiar and friendly face to countless members of the community. 

She loved to travel and spent summers as a child with her family at Lake Okoboji in Iowa near her hometown. She continued going every summer with kids and grandkids until very recently. Another cherished destination was Venice, Florida, where she spent the last 30 winters enjoying the sunshine, friendships, and the place she lovingly considered her second home. 

Above all, Rusty treasured being surrounded by her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than having those she loved nearby and sharing in their lives, accomplishments, and celebrations. Rusty is survived by her son, Dr Jeff Monahan (Lori Miller) of Morrison, Colorado; daughter Amy Coloff (Jim) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren Brittany Vieux (Sam), Sydney Coloff, Nicholas Coloff, and William Coloff; brother Don Larson of Denver, Colorado; niece Kay Wilms (H.P.) and her children; Andy Wilms (Christina) & Laura Wilms (Josh Pena). She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Monahan, and her son, Timmy Monahan. In accordance with Rusty's wishes, no funeral services will be held.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Table in Arvada in Rusty's memory. Rusty's love, kindness, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
