Louis Robert Weiske

May 2, 1925 — May 27, 2016

Louis Robert Weiske, 91, passed away May 27th in Denver surrounded by his family. Born May 2, 1925 in Redgranite, WI, he was the youngest of seven children. At the age of eighteen, Lou followed his brothers in to the military, serving in WWII in the Army Air Corps as part of the Eighth Air Force. Lou was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and many other commendations for his service as a ball turret gunner on B-24s and B-29s while in Europe and in Korea. When WW II ended, Lou returned to Milwaukee, WI changing his life forever when he met Louise, the love of his life, in a French class. They were married October 8, 1949 and moved to Riverside, CA when Lou reenlisted in the US Air Force. For the next 27 years they raised five children while stationed in TX, WI, MI, Japan and MA. Lou retired as a Senior Master Sergeant having served as a First Sergeant with Strategic Air Command as well as a top recruiter in WI. Lou was then employed by the City of Appleton, WI for sixteen years. 2009 brought a final move to Denver, CO. Lou loved his family, his cars, sports, reading, a good cigar, a beer on a sunny afternoon and telling stores. An optimist until the end, he is survived by Louise, his wife of 66 years, his five children, their families, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, his nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law. We will miss his sense of humor and his great stories. Donations requested to the Alzheimers Association, 455 Sherman Street, Unit #500, Denver CO US 80203.
