Centennial

Lorraine Weston Anderson was born as Lorraine Adelle Weston on June 8, 1932 to Myron and Sarah (Sadie) Weston in Los Angeles, California. She passed away September 8, 2025 in her home in Centennial Colorado surrounded by her sons and their wives. The love of her life, Ray, preceded her and died in April 2024. Together they raised three sons, Scott, Eric and Kurt. Lorrie loved her daughters-in-law Valerie, Carin and Michele, her six granddaughters Aryn, Kari, Jill, Torey, Jamie and Nicole, and her eight great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Dorothy and brother-in-law Earle.

Lorrie spent much of her life in California, but her middle school and early high school years were in New York, and being an Air Force officer’s wife, she lived with Ray in Texas, New Mexico and Michigan. Her home for the past thirty years has been in Colorado in close proximity to her extended and growing family.

Lorrie completed her high school years at Claremont High School where she was a cheer leader and friendly acquaintance of her future husband Ray. Staying close to her Claremont home, she attended Chaffey College where she was the homecoming queen, then in 1955 earned her nursing degree from the Huntington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing at the University of Southern California. While at Chaffey College, Lorrie dated a boy whose good friend was Ray, home from officer training in Holloman New Mexico. Lorrie was smitten by Ray and after a long-distance courtship, they were married in Los Angeles on October 22, 1955. Their marriage spanned 68 years.

In the early years of their marriage, they took up skiing and it became an important part of their family life with frequent trips to Mammoth Mountain. Her son Scott was born in 1958 followed by Eric in 1959. Kurt was born in 1966 after Lorrie and Ray returned to California and set up their home on Westvale Road on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Lorrie lived in that home for thirty years and created lasting friendships with many of the neighbors. Those friendships provided important support for Lorrie when Ray was stationed for thirteen months in South Korea leaving her with three boys to raise alone. She also relied on her mom and dad and Aunt Mae, who lived a short distance away, and Ray’s family and her sister Dorothy’s family.

For years, Lorrie worked in the office of a cardiologist, then at San Pedro Peninsula Hospital specializing in treating pulmonary patients. She never let her work interfere with her main job which was caring for her husband and her sons. Lorrie never missed a water polo match or football game or track meet, if her sons were involved. Lorrie loved participating in the annual Palos Verdes Peninsula marathon and especially enjoyed camping with family and friends at Carlsbad and Pismo beaches and Yosemite Valley.

SEAKR Engineering was born on Lorrie’s kitchen table in 1983 and she left her close friends and moved to Colorado when SEAKR relocated in 1995. Lorrie was a constant presence at company events and loved giving small silver cups to employees every time a new baby was born.

Lorrie and Ray built a house a short walk to Scott and Eric’s houses and her six grandchildren. Lorrie had a special bond with her granddaughters and she was able to watch them grow on a near daily basis. Her door was always open to them and they were the joy of her life. Just like with her sons, she never missed an important event in their lives.

Lorrie especially loved to go on cruises with Ray and family friends. They are cruising together now.
