Lorna (Sanchez) Phillips Lorna lived her life fully until the unexpected end on (Good) Friday, April 18th. She was born and raised in Denver Colorado on April 11, 1937. Preceded in death were her parents, Moses and Enriqueta ""Katie"" Sanchez and her sister Patricia Sanchez. Survivors include: Her younger brother Moses Sanchez Jr., her daughters and son-in-laws: Pamela and Rick Vandenberg and Valerie and Bart Nicholas, three grandchildren Michael Vandenberg, and Aubrie and Katielin Nicholas. Lorna attended Presentation of Our Lady Catholic schools, graduated from St. Joseph's High School, class of 1955, and went on to college at Lorreto Heights where she studied Liberal Arts. She worked in the GED testing center as an administrative assistant for 25 years, and poured her heart and soul into raising her girls! She was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church. Lorna was a 34 year cancer survivor, and whenever she fell down she got right back up and kept walking! (Literally) Lorna was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She lived a full active life and had a personality and laugh that would light up any room! She loved to meet up with friends to walk and talk. After she retired she began her new adventure in traveling. Some of the places she traveled to were: Greece, Europe, Costa Rica, China, Ireland, Canada, Peru, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other states. In between travels she would volunteer at the Catholic Charities food bank. She will be missed terribly but her legacy will continue on through all who loved her! Services will be: Thursday, April 24th: Horan & McConaty 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. 6pm Visitation, 7pm Rosary & Candlelight ceremony. Friday, April 25th: Holy Name Catholic Parish 3290 West Milan Ave., Englewood, 10:30am, followed by luncheon reception and Final Resting Place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 12801 W. 44th Ave in Wheat Ridge. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the Catholic Charities of Denver in her name.
