Lloyd O. Knapp, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away at the age of 92 on November 6, 2022.
Lloyd was born on June 12, 1930 to Eljus and Locile Knapp in Syracuse, Kansas. Lloyd graduated from East High School in Denver in 1948. He attended University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He later obtained a Master's Degree in Education.
Lloyd joined the Air Force where he was a fighter pilot in Korea and then Vietnam. He also was a Pilot Instructor at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, TX. He taught Mathematics at South High School in Denver and served in the New Mexico National Guard with the 188th Technical Fighter Squadron. He was honorably discharged from the military in 1986 and he retired from Denver Public Schools in 1992.
From 1955 to 1975 Lloyd was married to Charlotte Anderson. They had four children.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his father, Eljus Knapp; mother, Locile Knapp; brother Keith (Tom) Knapp; nephew Lloyd Knapp. He is survived by three sons and one daughter; Thomas Knapp of Lakewood, Mark Knapp of Highlands Ranch, Jennifer Morgan (Chris) of Parker, Phillip Knapp (Amy) of Conifer; five grandchildren; Cathi Martin (Peter), Kristal Mershon (David), Amber Perna (Mark), Calyb Knapp, and Reese Knapp; twelve great-grandchildren; Niece, Sharon (Mike) Cooley and Nephew, Larry (Tina) Knapp.
Military Honors Service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on December 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm (Staging Area C). The address for Fort Logan is 3698 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver.
