Lindy Lou Vizyak, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025 at the age of 75. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado on May 19, 1949 to Charles and Edna Berry. Lindy is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Joe, her son, Sean and his wife, Karen, and her grandchildren, Katie and Michael.
Lindy earned her bachelor’s degree at Southern Colorado State College, where she met and married her college sweetheart, who still affectionately refers to her as “Pretty Lindy.” She dedicated her life to teaching first grade, retiring after teaching over 1,000 students in 26 years. Lindy was inspired to share her knowledge with other teachers by writing a book on teaching methods that is included in the Library of Congress. Her students described her as kind yet passionate in pushing them to reach their full potential.
Lindy exhibited that same passion and guidance with her family, offering steady support and encouragement. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling (20 cruises!), cheering on the CU Buffs with Joe and Sean, reading, and gardening. Her generous, caring nature and her warm laugh will be missed.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00 on May 8, 2025 at Horan & McConaty on 9998 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to support Five Star Education Foundation at https://www.5starfoundation.org.
