Lewis was born on January 15, 1922, to Willis & Pearl Staup in Gypsum, Colorado. He married Clara Erika Martenson on August 27, 1948. Lewis originally listed into the United States Marines, but was moved to the Army, where he served honorably during World War II. He was a proud patriot. He had a successful career as owner of Staup's Grocery beginning in 1952 until his retirement in 1985. Lewis and Clara enjoyed traveling with the RV group, where Lewis was known for his breakfast meals. Lewis passed away on March 4, 2015, at the age of 93. Lewis is survived by a son, Fred (Nancy) Staup; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Clara Erika Staup; daughters, Carol (Paul) Nabors and Janice (Greg) Bayer; and son, Paul Kenneth Staup. Viewing will begin at 8:30 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2015, with Funeral Services to follow at 9:30 a.m., both at Brighton United Methodist Church, 625 South Eighth Avenue, in Brighton, Colorado. Interment with military honors will be at 12:15 p.m., at Fort Logan National Cemetery - Area ""C"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
