Leroy James ""Jim"" Sides II, age 70, died in Denver, Colorado on May 10, 2016. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he spent most of his life in Denver where he graduated from Cherry Creek High School and went on to attend Colorado College and University of Colorado. He worked as a landscaper for Valley Crest Landscaping Company until his retirement. Survivors include daughter Kendra Sides, Portland, Oregon; sister Marilyn Yeager, Aurora, Colorado; and nephew Robert Yeager, Aurora, Colorado. He was preceded in death by parents Carol and Roy Sides; sister Linda Sides; and brothers Michael and George Sides. Jim was a person who gave of himself to everyone in his life. He was a true, loyal and compassionate father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He brought joy and humor to the lives of everyone he knew. His ""crunchy outside"" was recognized by all as one of the ways he showed that he cared. Jim had a very large heart and was always there for anyone who needed him. Jim also gave of himself to many charities which were important to him. Some of these included the Children's Hospital Grief Program, Denver Rescue Mission, The Gathering Place, Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue and Smile Train. Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver.
