Obituary

Though Leona never sought to be the center of attention, her gentle spirit made a big impact on all those who knew her. She quietly loved and took care of her husband, her family, her friends, her Catholic Church, and her community. We are comforted to know that she still is doing both.

Leona was born on a farm in Menlo, Kansas in 1934 to a traditional German family (Haberkorn) with 7 brothers and sisters. The family was chased by the dustbowl further west until they ended up in Denver when Leona was a small girl. She attended St. Joseph High School, and in her senior year fell in love with and later married Tim Quinn in 1953. They were a devoted and loving couple for their entire marriage of 57 years. She looked forward to reuniting with Tim who died in 2010. She dearly loved her children and their spouses: Anna (Sam) Neumeyer, Barb (Dave) Oakley, Sue (Greg) Griffin, and Tim (Patty) Quinn. She was blessed with 12 grandkids who she dearly loved: Nickie and Sam (Anna); David, Maddie, Andrew, and Clara (Barb); Rebecca and John (Sue); and Mary Kate, Joe, Nellie, and Jack (Tim). She was very proud of her five great grandkids: Pablo (David), Nathan and Mathew (Maddie), Kaladin (Clara); Oliver (John).

She had many jobs over the years such as comptometrist, draper, and retail sales, but her primary and most fulfilling career was mother and homemaker.

We all loved and will miss Leona.

In lieu of flowers, Leona asked that donations be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 1:30PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado.  A Reception will immdately follow.

Leona will be laid to rest with her late husband Tim at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
