Lee Vance Richmond

July 24, 1944 — July 3, 2024

Lee Vance Richmond, 79, passed away on July 3, 2024 at his home in Broomfield, CO. Born July 24, 1944 to the late Walter Richmond, Sr. and Mary M. Gates in Bastrop, LA, he was the eldest of three siblings. He is preceded in death by his brother Walter "Leggs" Richmond, Jr., and sister Flora Monk, both of Bastrop, LA.

Lee moved from Bastrop to Boulder, CO in 1964 with his first wife, Peggy Matthews and her family. He attended the University of Colorado Boulder where he met his second wife, Sharon Body, since divorced. Lee loved to play basketball at Carlson Gym at CU. Highly charismatic and a master story-teller, Lee frequently attracted a crowd eager to hear about his escapades. He enjoyed traveling and spoke fondly of work trips to Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota, and of personal trips with friends to Canada, Hawaii, the Dominican Republic, and South America among others. He was a regular at the gym and at the club - he loved music and dancing, good food, playing dominoes, and talking about basketball and football. Lee held a handful of close friendships which spanned the past 60 years and were deeply impactful in his life. He took great joy in time spent with friends and family, particularly his grand- and great-grandchildren.

Lee is survived by his four children Marvin Bolden (California), Sondia Roberts (Colorado), Ronnell Richmond (Colorado), and Andre Richmond (Colorado); 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held beginning at 11:00am on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Victory Church, 11777 Sheridan Blvd, Westminster, CO 80020.
