Lawrence Patrick O'Connor

June 13, 1940 — August 4, 2025

Denver

Lawrence Patrick O’Connor, 85, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a major fall and a long period of medical challenges.

Born in the Bronx, New York City, on June 13, 1940, Larry lived a full and rich life. He married his loving wife, Joan M (Lucey) O'Connor on October 11,1969. He spent many years in New York, where he owned and operated a bar. Together they were blessed with a wonderful son, Lawrence (Larry)Patrick O'Connor, Jr on January 20, 1973. He and Joan made the courageous decision to move their family to Colorado—a bold adventure that opened a new chapter in their lives. There, Larry worked as a dedicated mail handler until retirement. One of his most important and lasting roles, though, was raising and caring for his family, which he did with unwavering love and commitment.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Joan O’Connor; his son, Lawrence Patrick O’Connor Jr. And Tara O'Connor (wife); and his three beautiful grandchildren, Hannah, Caitlin, and Aedan O’Connor. He was a proud grandfather who cherished his family deeply.

He was an avid reader and follower of sports, especially baseball. Whether talking about players or watching a game, sports were a meaningful way he connected with those around him—his knowledge, stories, and opinions made every conversation memorable.

A Rosary will be held at 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 13, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Denver, Colorado as well as streamed Here

The family finds comfort in the words of John 14:1-3:

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

Larry will be remembered for his strength, his wit, and his deep love for his family. He will be missed beyond words.
