Lawrence Michael Muhlhauser

Lawrence Michael “Mike” Muhlhauser, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, in Lakewood, Colorado, surrounded by loved ones at his home. He was born on August 18, 1936, in Pierre, South Dakota to the late Otto Theodore Muhlhauser and Ruth Lenore Mitchell.

Mike moved to Denver when he was eight years old and graduated from South High School with honors. After serving in the Navy Reserves, he attended and graduated from the IBM science labs where he earned his certificate to work on mainframe computers. He was recognized as an ANSI expert. He worked at Rocky Mountain Tariff Bureau for forty-five years where he started as a janitor and worked his way up to Director of Information Systems when he retired in 1999.

Mike enjoyed many recreational activities. He was an avid golfer, bowler—once rolling a 299, baseball player, coach, and playing softball on the Family Circus team where he served as coach and patriarch. He also spent many years traveling to Mexico to deep sea fish, went on seventeen cruises all around the world with his wife Alice, and enjoyed numerous ‘prosperous’ trips to Las Vegas, including a large family surprise party for his sixtieth birthday. Mike was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and Colorado sports teams.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Alice. His children Linda, Mark, Kathy (Ron), Karina (Michael), and Brian. His wonderful grandchildren Heather, Sean, Kylee, Garrett, Kendrick, Xander, Vivianna “Vivi”, Anna, and Bella. Also, his adorable great-grandchildren Camila, Dawson & Maylee, his niece Laura, half-sister Suzie, many extended family members and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick”, stepmother Shirley, stepbrother Lyle, and stepfather Chuck. He was a devoted husband and family man. He will be deeply missed.
