Larry E. Wallace 87, resident of Lakewood, Colorado passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Survived by his daughter Robin Wallace-Ipema and her husband Gerald Ipema and son-in-law Dan Grant. Larry has 4 grandchildren, Casey Ipema, Cody Ipema, Nichalas Grant and CarolAnn Grant. 1 great-grandchild Vera Ipema.
Larry was born in Wichita Kansas to Howard Wallace and Marie (Blalack) Wallace. Larry graduated from East High School in Wichita Kansas in 1954, where he was a competitive simmer. Larry met Martha the love of his life while in high school. She lived about 30 minutes away in Newton Kansas. They were married in 1957 after Martha graduated from high school. Shortly the marriage they moved to Colorado.
Larry started working for the United States Postal Service in 1954. He retired from the postal service in 1982. Still young he went to work for the City of Lakewood driving one of the senior citizen buses. He worked for the City for 10 years.
Larry was a Navy reservist from 1958 – 1960.
Larry loved being with his family. He enjoyed spending time with all 4 of his grandchildren.
Larry and Martha enjoyed traveling in their 5th. Their biggest adventure was a 6 week trip to Alaska. One of Larry’s favorite places in Colorado was Winding River Resort close to Grand Lake Colorado. The best times were when all his family could bring their RV’s up for family get together’s.
When Larry was younger he liked to go fishing. One of his favorite times was teaching the grandchildren how to fish. Larry also enjoyed bowing. He was pretty good, but we don’t know if he every hit the 300 score.
Larry was lucky enough to met his great-granddaughter in May. He was so proud to be a great-grandfather he had to tell everyone about her.
