Laurel Jean Burkett

Laurel Jean Burkett passed away on December 31, 2023, in Lone Tree, Colorado at the age of 87.

Laurel was born in Poynette, Wisconsin on September 26, 1936, and was a graduate of Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Laurel was the wife of Lester J. Burkett, deceased, and the mother of Lester Burkett Jr. “Jay” of Phoenix, Arizona, Lanae Fehr (Ken) of Littleton, Colorado, and Lance Burkett (Holly), of Highlands Ranch, Colorado.  She was the grandmother of Taelore Meyers (Cody), Karlea Tharp (Madison), Marlee Burkett and Max Burkett and great grandmother to Karson Tharp and Tate Meyers.  She is also survived by one sister, Emeline (David, deceased) Thompson and one brother, Merle (Dawn, deceased) Ohnesorge, both residing in Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings Pete (Leone) Ohnesorge, Armin (Bernie) Ohnesorge, Ron (Joyce) Ohnesorge, Dorothy (Herb) Ottman, Marian (Dale) Tarrant and Billy Ohnesorge.

Laurel resided in the Denver area since 1967 and previously lived with her husband in Miles City and Billings, Montana, Salt Lake City, Utah, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Funeral at 3pm Thursday, Jan 11 at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E County Line Rd, Centennial.

Reception to follow at Lance & Holly Burkett’s home located 1015 Southbury Pl., Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 following the service.
