Larry Brent Snapp

Larry Brent Snapp passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado, beside his wife Carma Snapp, the love of his life.

Larry spent his entire life investing in people. Whether he was encouraging a friend over coffee, counseling someone through a difficult season, helping a neighbor, or teaching Scripture, he gave people his time, his attention, and his heart. Relationships were never an interruption to Larry—they were his priority. If you were with Larry, you had his full attention. He listened well, asked thoughtful questions, and left people knowing they mattered to him. This was his way of life even from a young age.

Larry was born on May 10, 1958, on Mother's Day, in Burley, Idaho to Gene Snapp and Ardena Snapp. He grew up in nearby Rupert, Idaho and graduated from Minico High School in 1976. The family home and “the farm” remained his favorite place throughout his life. Larry’s favorite hobby was gardening, a skill that was passed on by his mother, and over the next fifty years he cared for his parents’ farm, transforming it into what is affectionately called the "Garden of Eden" — in Rupert, Idaho of all places.

Larry was a gifted painter despite having no training, but his favorite canvas was nature. He often said that he “painted with landscapes”, bringing beauty, color, and joy to places that were once barren. It was a reflection of his lifelong passion to see emptiness replaced with life, most profoundly worked out in his love for leading people to Christ. Larry had an eye for details that others often overlooked. If he found the tiniest plant growing where it didn't stand a chance, he would carefully find a new place for it, giving it every opportunity to take root and grow. Many people have experienced a similar care that Larry gave to those little plants in the way that he believed in them and supported them at their lowest, when most would have dismissed them entirely. His love and empathy helped thousands thrive.

From a young age, Larry felt God calling him to both ministry and counseling. He spent nearly eleven years in higher education to fulfill this calling, attending Dallas Theological Seminary, Denver Seminary, and Colorado Christian University. For over 30 years, he served as a licensed professional counselor, and for 20 years a pastor at New Life Community Church. Throughout his life, Larry faithfully sowed seeds through counseling, teaching, friendship, and countless conversations. He cultivated faith and maturity in people through his encouragement, mentorship, and love, trusting God with the harvest.

Larry loved learning. He rarely missed an issue of World Magazine or National Geographic and especially enjoyed nature and wildlife documentaries, always appreciating the beauty, detail, and artistry of God's creation. He had a dry wit and an amazing mind, both of which will be greatly missed.

On a blind date, Larry met the love of his life, Carma Huelle. They married just eleven months later in September 1995 and spent over three decades building a life together. They deeply enjoyed each other— traveling, worshiping, laughing, serving, and hosting small group together, looking forward each day to reuniting when he returned from work. Carma was his favorite person. Together they welcomed their daughter, Sheridan, and two years later their son, Ethan. Larry loved being a husband and father. He filled his children's lives with adventure, taught them courage, modeled servanthood, trained them to invest in relationships, and demonstrated dependence upon Christ. Watching his children grow into remarkable adults who love Jesus and marry wonderful spouses became a great joy in his life.

Every morning began with the Lord. His children grew up seeing him in his office before sunrise, Bible open and glasses resting low on his nose. He was a man whose life was anchored in God’s Word. Those quiet mornings shaped the way he lived the rest of each day, with intention, truth, and purpose.

Larry was a man of integrity, loyalty, and conviction. He was a friend and brother who loved others far beyond what was easy. His love was sacrificial and steadfast. He taught us what it meant to be a true friend, not someone who merely loves when it’s convenient.

After a two-year battle with kidney cancer, Larry spent his final days at home, surrounded by the unwavering love of his family. His greatest wish was to quickly “be home with the Lord” and his family finds great comfort knowing he is now face-to-face with his Savior. Larry had no fear of death, but welcomed it because he lived with complete assurance in God’s promises. There was no doubt in Larry’s mind where he was going after he died, even when he was in perfect health. Larry’s faith was in Christ alone and knew he had been saved by God’s grace alone. He was confident in the Lord’s faithfulness to bring him into Christ’s arms when he passed. Although that day came far sooner than any of us anticipated, Larry had no regrets before he passed. He lived a life pleasing to the Lord, and his love changed more lives than we can count. He passed away before retiring, before having grandchildren, and before enjoying more decades with Carma. Yet he lived a full life. He wasted no time while he was here. He followed in Jesus’ footsteps, able to echo his Lord: “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work you have given me to do” (John 17:4).

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Gene; father-in-law, Keith; sister-in-law, Sarah; and nephew, Keiton.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Carma; daughter, Sheridan (Shane); son, Ethan (Bella); mother, Ardena; brother, Steven; niece, Rachel; nephew, Daniel (Morgan); mother in law, JoAnne (Ted); brother-in-law, Rusty (Beth); sister-in-law, Keila (Matt); nephews Hunter and Carson; his many cousins whom he adored; his surrogate sons; his clients; and many dear family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Larry requested that memorial gifts be directed to ministries and charitable organizations. Donations may be made in his honor to the New Life Community Church General Fund, The Voice of the Martyrs, World Vision, or The Navigators.

Larry’s celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 29th at 2:00 PM at New Life Community Church (17690 E Iliff Ave, Aurora, CO 80013).
