Larry LaRue Brown of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on February 9, 2025 at the age of 86. Loving husband, dad and grandpa.
Larry LaRue Brown was born March 30, 1938 to Raymond and Wilda Brown in Culbertson, Nebraska. Larry was the 2nd oldest of 5 brothers, Duane, Kent, Ron and Randy. He is survived by Ron and Randy.
Larry was raised on the Ridner Farm, the Nordyke Farm & the Wineglass Ranch in Nebraska. The Wineglass being the most instrumental in his young life. It was a hard life. Larry learned to fly his dad’s Aeronca plane at age 14, his job being to check windmills and water tanks on the five major pastures. Larry flew around 40 years obtaining all of his ratings except his commercial rating.
Larry married the love of his life, Vondalee in October 1956. He joined the Army at the same time where he excelled in radar and advanced to Sergeant. Larry was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey for three years, during which his first born, Debra, was born. He was Honorably Discharged in August 1959 and moved to Colorado where his second daughter, Connie, was born.
Larry’s career started with Martin -Marietta in Jan 1960 where he worked on Titan I and II missile systems. He worked at the University of Denver/Denver Research Institute in June 1964 and worked 32 years. After that, he worked for Applied Research Associates for 14 years as an instrumentation group leader, and he continued a few more years with National Tech Systems. His entire career was involved with anti-terrorism and he worked closely with the government. He loved his Country and was proud of his part in protecting and serving it.
Family was most important to Larry. He was blessed with two daughters; five grandkids: Kendra Randolph (Nick), Christina Suarez, Erik Anderson, Krystle Cooper (James Rose), and Anthony Suarez (Ernie Zharani).
He was also blessed with nine great grandkids: Isaiah Suarez, Ethan and Emily Casillas, Matthew Trent, Logan, Addison and Wyatt Randolph, Bailey Rose, Zamir and Haziq Suarez.
Larry will be missed beyond words and will forever be in our hearts.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 beginning at 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood.
A Funeral Service honoring Larry's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM at The Bridge Church at Bear Creek, 3101 South Kipling Boulevard, Lakewood Colorado. A Reception will follow from 4:00pm until 8:00PM at Origin Hotel Red Rocks, 18485 West Colfax Avenue, Golden, Colorado.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00pm at Golden Cemetery, 755 Ulysses St, Golden, Colorado.
