Larry Joseph Idol

Larry Joseph Idol, born on February,1, 1947/CO, and baptized in the Catholic church, now rests with his parents, Alma (nee Zoellner), MO/CO & Joseph Idol, MO /CO, and his only sibling, David Idol, CO/ILL.

 In his 76 years, he left his mark:  Thomas Jefferson high school 1961-65, Mesa College 1965, USAF April-June,1966, and Ottawa University 1966-70. Employed from his teens to adulthood at Idol Optics, Larry's positions advanced from errand boy to management in this family business.

He never missed an opportunity to join his friends in a day of upland game hunting or fishing.  On the best of blue-skied, Colorado days, Larry would surely be found toting his golf clubs and conjuring a tale about the epic shot - he almost made. For 15 years, Larry served as committee chair on the Denver PGA tour and for 5 years, as a consultant to the Phoenix, Sr. PGA Tour, The Traditions.

 His devotion to his “Ma,” relatives, and circle of friends was unyielding. Placing second was his fanship to the Cowboys of the University of Wyoming.

 Larry’s kindness, insight, and quirky sense of humor were his trademarks. He appreciated the little things.

In his last decades, he suffered with skeletal, muscular, and cardiac maladies. The latter being the cause of his sudden passing on February 4, 2023. Larry, “Bear” leaves behind many who loved and will miss him.

Together, he and his beloved mother, recently deceased, will be inurned at a private gathering in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Centennial, Colorado.
