Lanny Allen Dick was born on June 30, 1942, to Richard and Maxine Dick in Aurora, Nebraska, and passed away on November 26, 2025, in Denver, Colorado.
He was the second of five children and was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary; his brother-in-law Brian Jacoby; nephews Tim McKinnis and Matthew Hall; and his former wife, Cheryl Dempsey, who was the mother of his four children. Lanny is survived by his husband, Jim; siblings Ruth, Janet (Tony), and George (Sidonia); his children Liz (Mike), Rebecca, Jeff (Katie), and Jon (Nicki); twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was loved deeply by all.
Lanny spent his entire career in the restaurant supply industry, where he was a well-respected and valued member of the community. He took great pride in his faith and his family and was devoted to both. A firm believer in giving back, Lanny spent his retirement years volunteering with Project Angel Heart and serving within his church community.
He traveled to many countries, was a member of the Windsor Gardens Optimist Club and sang in many choirs over the years. Lanny was also known for his prolific baking, unique cooking, and sharp wit. Lanny also had a tender heart and a deep calling to serve others—a calling he lived out every day.
Lanny was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a genuinely good man. He will be greatly missed.
