Landon J Scott

Landon J. Scott, 69, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away March 24, 2026.

Landon was born on March 3, 1957, to Arthur Matthew “Matt” Scott and Lura Bethel Scott (Lindenman), both of whom preceded him in death. From the very beginning, Landon’s life was defined by resilience, determination, and an unwavering refusal to accept limits. 

Born with a serious heart condition, his parents were told time and time again that he would not survive, first to the age of one, then five, and later that he would never live a normal life. Landon proved them wrong at every turn. He not only kept up with his peers, he outworked and outperformed them. He became an all-state football player, an accomplished baseball player, and an all-state wrestler. 

That same grit carried into his career. Landon spent 16 years with Welex and Halliburton, followed by 24 years with Kinder Morgan and later Tallgrass. 

While his career often took him away from home, his family was always at the center of his life. He made the most of every moment he had with them, creating lasting memories through family trips, outdoor adventures, and shared experiences. 

In recent years, one of the traditions that meant the most to Landon was the annual pheasant hunt he shared with his brother, Vaden, and family. Those trips were more than just time in the field, they were time together, away from the distractions of life, where stories were told, laughter came easy, and bonds were strengthened. You could see the youthfulness return to him during those hunts, especially in the playful teasing between him and Vaden. It was during this past season that Landon harvested his first pheasant, making it a fitting and meaningful chapter in a tradition that brought him so much joy. 

One of his greatest joys in life was being “Papa.” He shared a special bond with his grandchildren, Drew Scott, Kaden Mascarenas, Zack Mascarenas, Korben Scott, and Chase Mathews. 

Landon was married to his wife, Connie Jolene Scott. He is also survived by his children, Megan Jo Scott; Dallas Drew Scott; and Carly Brooke Mascarenas and her husband David Mascarenas. He is further survived by his siblings, Kimberlee Scott and Vaden Scott. 

Outside of work and family, Landon had a deep love for the outdoors and for life itself. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly fishing, hiking, shooting, paddle boarding, and was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. 

A man of Christian faith, Landon carried his beliefs with quiet strength throughout his life. 

From his children’s perspective, there was never a moment in life where he didn’t show what strength looked like. Not just physical strength, but the kind that keeps showing up, keeps fighting, and keeps loving your family no matter what you’re facing. That will be carried forward for generations.
