Kevin Lewis Martinez (61) passed away July 5th, 2023 with his wife, Annette, by his side after a valiant battle with neuroendocrine cancer.
Kevin was born June 24, 1962 to parents Ernest Martinez and Cecila Lewis in Aurora, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Annette, children, Nicole and Jacob, brother Lloyd (Susie), and multiple nieces and nephews.
Kevin graduated from Denver East High School in 1980 and went on to complete Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Aerospace Science Professional Pilot program with a minor in business.
After graduation, Kevin landed a job as a professional pilot for Health Concepts IV. He had a passion for flying airplanes which he sustained throughout his life. Kevin had an entrepreneurial spirit and worked in many business ventures including as a pilot for Monfort Conagra, starting his own company, Destination Fly Fishing, as a high voltage electrician for the State of Colorado, as a project manager of Latsis Custom Homes, and as a general contractor for multiple commercial construction agencies.
Kevin took the most pride in becoming an inventor and patented his own erosion control mat. He started Global Environmental Technologies and the subsidiary Foreign Obstacle Debris System (FODS) where he served as the founding member and CEO of his own plastic manufacturing company.
However, Kevin would maintain that his greatest accomplishment in life was the life that he built with his family. He met his wife, Annette, at Metro. They went on to have two children, Nicole, in 1995 and Jacob, in 1999.
Kevin was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending his time outdoors. Some of his favorite places to be were in the mountains of Grand Lake and on the shores of Jefferson Lake. He enjoyed flying and maintaining his own Navion single engine airplane that he had restored.
Services will be held for Kevin on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014, at 9am.
