Kevin Kershaw, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 with his wife Patty and daughters Jenny and Renee by his side.
Kevin was a devoted husband. He supported his wife Patty in her teaching and music endeavors. In fact, Kevin and Patty often enjoyed making music together and played in the local church choir for fifteen years. In his younger years he played guitar with his friends, in church and at camp. He played in several small bands, both on guitar and keyboard. He also played in pit orchestras and sang bass in the choirs Voices West and the Colorado Chorale. His love for the mountains and his family cabin in Buena Vista led him to move the family to Colorado to enjoy skiing and snow. Kevin and Patty supported each other through sickness and health, parents’ passing and built a life together that included two wonderful daughters, leading to new extended family members and many friends.
As a dad, he attended many of his daughters activities from rugby meets to band concerts. He taught his girls how to ski, drive a car, primo sliding and tried (and failed) at teaching them how to play guitar. He passed on sage wisdom with old-time sayings like, ‘straighten up and fly right’ and ‘it’s all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked out’. He just enjoyed the simple pleasure of spending time with his family over a good meal.
During his career he was a software engineer and manager, and worked for several companies including NCR Comten, Evolving Systems, TV Guide, and retiring at CableLabs. He volunteered as treasurer and recording engineer for Lake of the Isles Chamber Orchestra and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra. Most of all Kevin was a caregiver. He took care of his parents in their final years and dedicated time to Patty, Jenny, and Renee, supporting them through their studies, tantrums, and heartaches, but beaming proudly at their accomplishments. Additionally, Kevin had many friends across his lifetime that remained in his life. High school and college classmates, bandmates, coworkers, choir and orchestra members, all became lifelong friends. Kevin was exceptional at keeping friendships that lasted decades.
Kevin is survived by his wife Patty, daughters Jenny and Renee, son-in-law Damon Trahan, granddaughters Megan and Mady Trahan, and sister Mary Miller.
