Kerrie Kathleen McLean-Burns, 56 of Aurora Colorado passed away October 7, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Kerrie was born to Connie and LeRoy McLean on June 29, 1968 in Denver Colorado. The family lived in Denver until October of 1976 when they decided to make a life change and moved to Sedgwick Colorado, Kerrie was 8 years old at the time. This is where Kerrie and her sisters call home. Kerrie started school at Sedgwick Elementary School where her lifelong friendships began. Once she began Middle school at Revere Junior Senior High in Ovid Colorado, it was evident that Kerrie was going to be an amazing athlete. She excelled in all 3 sports that she participated in; Volleyball, Basketball, and Track, receiving numerous awards in all three sports. Kerrie graduated in 1986 receiving an athletic scholarship to Western State in Gunnison, Colorado. There she participated in Volleyball, Track, and Basketball and excelled as always in all her events. In track she was a jumper she participated in the triple jump, long jump and the high jump, plus her ability to run. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She remained in Gunnison for a few years and then returned to the Denver area, where she worked for AIMS construction for several years. She then started working with AMCO Systems Parking in Downtown Denver, where she quickly moved into management, transferring into handling all the parking lots at the new Denver International Airport. After many years she was offered a position with UCHealth University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora Colorado, where once again she managed the campus grounds and parking for the new Hospital. Kerrie was there for 16 years.
Kerrie met her husband Phillip in 1994 and soon were blessed with two beautiful twin daughters Ravyn and Taylor Burns on September 15, 2000.
Kerrie was a true volleyball mom, from the many miles of airline travel down to the countless hours of driving the whole state of Colorado.
Kerrie was also a talented artist at heart creating gifts for her friends and family whether they were hand drawn or crafted. If you knew Kerrie you knew that she always put others before herself, especially her girls.
Kerrie was kind, caring, selfless, and independent.
Kerrie is survived by her daughters Ravyn Burns (Cody Henson), Taylor Burns (Wyatt Leppke), Sisters Shannon (Gregg) Maxwell, Lee Ann (Jim) Morris, Sam (David) Mills. Mother-in-Law Irma Burns, Brother in-law Ronald (Karen) Burns and cousins Sondra Thompson, Damien Pharaoh, and Tasia Pharaoh (Danielle Romero) as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Kerrie is preceded in death by her husband: Phillip Burns, Mother: Connie Schwartzkopf, Stepfather: Ronald Schwartzkopf, Father: Lee Roy McLean, Father-In-Law: Edward Burns Jr.
A Memorial Service and Reception in Kerrie’s honor, will be held at Horan & McConaty - Aurora Chapel. Kerrie’s favorite color was Red, please feel free to where red or dress causal for the service in keeping with Kerrie’s fashion.
A Celebration of Kerrie's Life will be held Friday, October 18, beginning at 11:00 AM at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora 80014. Friends are welcome to visit anytime after 10:30 AM.
