Kenneth Drake Scudder

Kenneth (“Kenny”) Drake Scudder entered eternal rest on September 25, 2023. Kenny was born to John and Hazel Scudder in Chicago, Illinois, on August 19, 1929. He married the love of his life, the former Virginia Schreiber, on February 19, 1948. Married 67 years, Kenny and Ginny were the proud and devoted parents to 5 children, Judy, Patty, Kenny, Keith, and Amy. They were also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Kenny was also the much loved brother to John and Bob Scudder and uncle to several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved Ginny, his son Kenny, and his oldest brother John.

A graduate of Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering, Kenny worked for Western Electric in Indianapolis, prior to taking a position in management with AT&T in Denver where he resided for 53 years. After he “retired” Kenny was a constant presence and guiding light at Scudder Press, the family business in Thornton he helped start. He will continue to inspire the team with his good humor and work ethic.

Kenny’s 94 years were a true example of a well-lived life devoted to love of family, particularly the little ones who adored their grandpa and always sparked his infectious grin. He was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Colombus. All who knew him also knew his great joy in “going up the hill” and his many friends there will truly miss him (and the donuts!).

The family invites all to the visitation from 12:00-1:00PM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the chapel of Horan & McConaty, Thornton, CO. The funeral mass follows at 1:00PM at the chapel with graveside services to be held Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, CO. The family invites all to a reception in Kenny’s memory after the funeral mass at the home of Amy and Kevin Smith, 14888 Gaylord Street, Thornton, Colorado.
