Kenneth James Mrochek passed away early in the morning Sunday, November 30th at the age of 89. Ken was the oldest of 4 children born and raised in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He spent his youth learning the trade of a printer from his father. He chose military service, first joining the Army National Guard of Wisconsin. He then received an honorable discharge after 3 years to join the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. From there he moved to Colorado, where he pursued his original path and spent 25+ years working in different roles in printing before a heart attack forced him into early retirement. Colorado is also where he met his future wife Shirley Ann Porreco. They built a family over 56 years of marriage, having 2 sons. Ken loved to travel and the outdoors. He was a fisherman and a hunter. Ken was an avid reader, with a love of science fiction and fantasy novels. A love he passed onto his sons.
Ken is preceded in death by his sister Jean Castleberry (Tom) and is survived by his two brothers Dave (Marlene) and Jim, Ken’s wife Shirley, his two sons Bill (Shelly) and Jeff (Alice), and 3 grandchildren (Kevin, Soren, Gabriel).
