Kearney Eugene Edmiston

June 25, 1940 — November 25, 2024

Kearney Eugene Edmiston 84 passed away peacefully at his home in Centennial, CO on November 25,2024. He was born in Waxahachie, Texas on June 25, 1940 to Margaret and Kearney Edmiston. He is survived by his wife Vivian, his son Gene (Deanna) of Austin, Texas, son Nicholas (Wendy) of Cadiz, Spain, son Rob (Emily) of Mandeville, Louisiana, sister Dorothy Allen, of Rockwall, Texas, and sister Sharron Seago (Bob) of Creede, Colorado. Also survived by grandchildren, Dillan, Hannah (Carl), Gwendolyn and Lana. Preceded in death were his parents.


Kearney grew up in Floydada, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Pharmacy. His first job was at Kay Drug in Fort Worth, Texas. Kearney moved to Dillon, Colorado in 1982 and ran the Little Brown Drug in Dillon, Colorado. A bad ski accident caused him to move to Denver. There he met his wife of 48 years, Vivian. Kearney worked for various drug stores in Denver and Centennial and retired from Safeway in 2009. 


Kearney loved being involved in his son’s activities. He attended and participated in many swim meets for many years and was a boy scout leader where he participated in many activities including high adventure camps in Minnesota and the Caribbean. Kearney always remained loyal to the University of Texas and the Texas Longhorns. He love seeing them play in person or on television. He also volunteered at Littleton Hospital for 10 years. Kearney’s true love was golf. He lived, breathed, talked, and played as much as he could and could not get enough of it! 


Kearney and Vivian loved to travel and took trips by car, plane, ship, train, bus and river boat to the US, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and Asia. In August of 2022 he took his bucket list trip to Scotland. His life dream to stand on the 18th hole bridge at St Andrews was fulfilled.

 

Kearney will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother, cousin, neighbor and friend. To all that knew him he was a kind, true southern gentleman.


A memorial service will be held on January 18, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Horan&McConaty 5303 E County Line Road, Centennial, CO
