Kaye Diane Haldorson passed peacefully on February 23, 2026 in Lone Tree, Colorado at the age of 89. Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Michael and Catherine (Nalezny) Sivinski, Kaye was one of 7 siblings, second to the last. Following graduation from Cathedral High School, Kaye enrolled in St Cloud Hospital’s School of Nursing, earning her RN in 1957.
Upon graduation at 21, she boldly moved with fellow nursing friends to Denver, Colorado. There she worked as a nurse at both St. Anthony and St. Joseph Hospitals. She enjoyed exploring Colorado, learned how to ski and described that time of her life as a lot of fun, living together with her nursing friends. Through her roommate’s boyfriend, Kaye was introduced to Burdie (Burdette) Haldorson, and they had their first date in May 1958. Kaye and Burdie, both Minnesotans, went on adventures to Trail Ridge Road, Grand Junction and up Highway 6 cruising in his ’57 Chevy convertible.
Kaye married Burdie on July 30, 1959, in Denver. Early in their marriage Burdie’s employment and 66er's basketball career with Phillips Petroleum transferred them to Bartlesville, OK, Rapid City, SD, Albuquerque, NM and back to Denver. In 1972 Burdie left Phillips and with a partner purchased a group of service bay gasoline stations based in Colorado Springs. Kaye and Burdie moved their family of three- Linda, Brian and Kari from Littleton and lived out their marriage in the Colorado Springs community. Time with family and friends at condos in Scottsdale, AZ and Breckenridge, CO filled their retirement years with great memories and fun.
Kaye always put her family first- she described caring for her family as her most important hobby. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother and wife. Her 64 years of marriage to Burdie was a milestone she was deeply proud of and grateful for. She cared for and nursed her own mother during her final years and created a welcoming home for so many visiting relatives. A bit of a perfectionist, she took great pride in her home and was known for her amazing holiday decorations. Additionally, her rose gardens in Colorado Springs and Scottsdale were beautiful and enjoyed by many. She loved keeping in the know with her friends, family, children, grandchildren and she used ‘find my friends’ to follow everyone’s adventures.
Kaye is survived by her daughter Linda (Bob) Van Hare-Bellevue, WA, son Brian (Karen) Haldorson-Lone Tree, CO and daughter Kari (Tom) Craig-Marietta, GA. She has 9 grandchildren: Kirsten-Seattle WA, Taylor-New York City NY, Eric-Milwaukee, WI and Michael-Brooklyn, NY, Van Hare; Marisa, Austin and Brooke Haldorson- Denver, CO; Nicole Demirtas and Chase Conklin-Atlanta, GA. Her great granddaughter Karina Demirtas is from Atlanta, GA. Diane Lahr-St. Cloud, MN is her surviving sister.
Kaye was preceded in death by her husband Burdie Haldorson, her parents Michael and Catherine Sivinski, her sisters Donna Schulze & Carol Stalberger, her brothers Robert Sivinski, James Sivinski and Michael Sivinski
