Kathy Kilroy London was born on October 28, 1953 in Tacoma Park, Maryland as the youngest of three daughters, to Walter and Eileen Kilroy. Kathy grew up in Scarsdale, New York where she graduated from Scarsdale High School. She then attended Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated in 1975 with a B.A. in psychology. It is also where she met and fell in love with her husband of 48 years. After having four children, Kathy went to Johns Hopkins and earned a M.S. in counselling.
Kathy primarily defined herself through her incredible parenting of her three children. She also loved the gardens she planted at several different homes. Along with those gardens she grew her artistic talent and flair with colors, loved to travel and learn about new cultures and experienced and experimented with new culinary skills and tastes. Most of all she loved having a good laugh. She sold real estate in Boulder, CO. but found her real calling as a lower school counsellor at the Heritage Hall School in Oklahoma. Since the early 2000’s, Kathy and her husband always had a place to spend summers and holidays in Steamboat Springs, CO and in 2017 they retired to their ‘forever’ home on a creek there.
Kathy married Doug London in 1976, and their three children Kevin, Katie and Lindsay have also added eight grandkids to the family, all of whom loved being spoiled by their ‘Grawny’. Kathy always prided herself on her ability to “read eyeballs” and her compassion, curiosity, kindness and love for her family will be sorely missed. Kathy’s motto that she would want to be remembered by is simply, ‘Live, Love, Laugh’.
Kathy passed away on Oct. 6, 2024, after battling breast cancer for over five years that then metastasized to her brain stem. Her courage and strength in facing the challenges surrounding her diagnosis was admired by friends, caregivers and family.
There will be a celebration of Kathy on November 16, 2024 at 12 noon at the Fresh Herb Company Farm in Boulder at 4114 Oxford Road, Longmont, CO 80503.
