Kathryn Ann Lewis "Kitty" Braun

June 2, 1948 — May 17, 2025

Kathryn Ann Braun, lovingly known as “Kitty,” passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and resilience. Born on June 2, 1948, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, she was the cherished daughter of Warren and Lorraine Lewis.

Kitty was the beloved wife of David Braun, with whom she shared over 55 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed nearly 40 years of life in Tega Cay, South Carolina. A devoted nurse, Kitty graduated from Little Company of Mary Nursing School in Chicago and dedicated her career to caring for others. She served as a registered nurse and later as a regional director for the American Red Cross, touching countless lives with her compassion and leadership.

Known for her warm spirit and many friendships, Kitty was also a passionate bridge player, always striving to earn more master points. Before her health challenges, she was a competitive tennis player, winning numerous club championships. She also loved a good romance novel. Despite facing numerous health challenges over the past decade, she met each day with quiet strength and never a complaint-a true trooper in every sense.

Kitty was a loving mother to Gretchen Bylow (Lance), Andrew Braun (Heather), and Wendy Serafin (David). She was an extraordinary grandmother to her beloved grandchildren: LJ, Jack, Patrick, Drew, Colby, and Cody, who were her”angels”. She was also a much loved sister, spending countless hours on the phone with Susan Ballmer (Norm), Beth Krimmel (Tom), Rosann Lewis, Ruth Noeldner (Mark), and Mary and Warren Lewis.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her family and friends will forever cherish the precious moments, laughter and coffee shared with her. Her kindness, courage, and love will continue to inspire those she touched.

A celebration of Kitty’s life will be held in Wisconsin on August 23, 2025.
