Kathryn Marie Booth Hornbecker

Kathryn Marie Booth Hornbecker, aged 93, passed away on August 12, 2025. She was the widow of John Weir Hornbecker, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.

Born on February 6, 1932, Kathryn was the daughter of Alexander Sidney Booth and Clara Helen Dorn Booth. She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She attended Saint Mary’s High School and went on to graduate from Denver University in 1953 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology. She later worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Rocky Mountain Clinical Labs where she was respected for her dedication and professionalism. She worked with her future brother-in-law, Richard, who later introduced her to her husband, John.

Kathryn, known affectionately as Kay, enjoyed reading, gardening, and entertaining family and friends. She was a loyal and steadfast friend and had a love for all animals. Above all, she was unconditionally devoted to her family. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter June Hornbecker McDowell, step children Donald (Gloria) Hornbecker, David (Renee) Hornbecker and Diane Hornbecker; five grandchildren Zachary (Kristy) Ault, Courtney Mooty, Ashley (Tyson) Johnston, Lindsay (Zac) Steinman, and Peter (Audrianna) Hornbecker; and her great-grandchildren Briggs, Jesús, Denver, Diamond, Boden and Wyatt.

Kathryn will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan Cemetery beside her husband, John. A small, private family service will be held in her honor.

Her final words were filled with grace and joy: “Don’t be sad. Be glad we have known each other. We have laughed together, loved each other, cried together, held onto each other. Let’s rejoice!”
