Katherine Rose (Keltgen) Ubowski, known by all as Kay, passed peacefully from this life the morning of April 18, 2016. She was surrounded and supported by her children during the last days of her life. Kay was born on 12/23/1921, the sixth of ten children born to Katherine and John Keltgen. Kay was born around Bird Island, MN at a farmer's family while they were visiting relatives during the winter season. She spent much of her childhood in Jud, North Dakota, before settling in Fargo. Kay and her siblings supported each other through their collegiate studies. Kay studied Home Economics at NDSU. Soon after graduation, she moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for the Denver Dairy Council and did home economic shows for the council and a local appliance store on local TV. Kay joined the local Cathedral Club (Catholic young adult group) were she met the love of her life, Henry (Hank) Ubowski. Of course, they met across a bridge table! They married 6/18/55. Kay and Hank started a family right after they got married. They had six children: Chester, Leonard, Ronald, Diane, Karen and Steven. Kay dedicated her days (and nights) to caring for the family. She really utilized her Home Economic degree tending to the family. They made a home in Wheat Ridge, CO. In 1985 Hank's job took them to Phoenix, AZ where they lived for nearly 20 years in a wonderful home on the golf course with a pool. These years were filled with joy and excitement for them seeing the thrills that their kids and grandchildren experienced. After the passing of Hank in 2008, Kay moved back to Denver to be with family. She found a wonderful place with wonderful friends with whom she shared many years. Hank Ubowski and sons Steven Michael and Leonard John precede Kay in death. She leaves behind 4 children: Chester (Sandra) Ubowski, Ronald (Jenifer) Ubowski, Diane (Arthur) Belz, and Karen Ubowski. In addition, 11 grandkids: Adam (Lori) Ubowski, Stefania (Jason) Elsmore, Nathan (Mariesa) Ubowski, Samantha Ubowski, Nyisha Ubowski, Matthew Ubowski, Bradley Belz, Jennifer Belz, Daniel Carballal, Marcos Carballal and Nico Carballal. She also was blessed with eight great grandchildren: Ava Joy, Gianna Marie, Logan Gregory, Cecilia Ann, Stephen Michael, Leila Grace, John David and Bella Rose. She is survived by two siblings, John Baptist Keltgen and Doris Mae Bower. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Vigil/Rosary at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel (Lakewood). Kay's funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am Friday, April 29th, at St Francis of Cabrini Catholic Church (6673 West Chatfield Avenue, Littleton, Colorado 80128). Interment will be at Mt.
