Katherine “Katie” Michelle Hankins, affectionately known to her loved ones as "Katie Bug," passed away on May 29, 2025, in Lakewood, Colorado, at the age of 42. A vibrant soul always radiating joy, love, and kindness, she leaves behind countless cherished memories for her family and many, many friends.
Born on February 16, 1983, in Lubbock, Texas, Katie grew up surrounded by family who nurtured and celebrated and encouraged her adventurous spirit. She graduated from Monterey High School in 2001 before attending Texas Tech University. Throughout her life, she possessed an unwavering zest for exploration, proudly becoming a "citizen of the world." Katie was passionate about travel and embraced new experiences with open arms. At various times she lived in Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.
In her professional career, Katherine flourished as a dedicated Real Estate agent, assisting countless families in finding warm homes .Her clients inevitably became her friends. Her proudest accomplishment and most meaningful role was being an extraordinary mother to her wonderful son, Grady Enloe. Katie was truly a "Superhero Mom," for whom nothing was more dear than her family.
In her free time, Katie lived life to the fullest as a devoted follower of the band Phish. She was a ferociously spirited dancer whose laughter filled every room she entered. With an endless capacity for love, Katie formed profound connections with friends and strangers alike, leaving a lasting impact wherever she went.
Katie is survived by her partner, Curtis Enloe; their cherished son, Grady; loving parents Mitch and Karla Hankins; sister Mary Beth Osburn and her husband Kevin Osburn: grandmothers Beverly West and Joyce Falcon; Uncle Glen Babcock and his wife, Wendy, and Aunt Lori Najar, and many extended family members and dear friends who experienced firsthand her contagious smile and warmth.
A celebration of Katherine's vibrant life will be held on July 2, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at The Bridge Church in Lakewood, Colorado. All who knew and loved Katie are warmly invited to share in honoring and remembering a remarkable woman, devoted mother, beloved daughter, sister, partner, and treasured friend.
