Katherine (Kate) Carroll

October 19, 1992 — July 30, 2023

Sadly, we lost Katherine Margaret Carroll far too early when Kate unexpectedly passed away on July 30, 2023 at the age of 30.  Kate was born in Boston, MA and grew up in Hingham, MA where she played tennis, Little League baseball, basketball and reluctantly took dance lessons.

Kate moved to Colorado in 2004 and attended middle school at Saint Mary’s Academy, followed by Regis Jesuit High School.  Kate excelled academically and athletically.  She was on the Varsity Girl’s Tennis team all four years collecting state titles in doubles and singles.  During her senior year Kate won the first state championship title for a singles player for Regis Jesuit High School Girl’s Division.  Kate also played competitive tennis outside of high school, traveling to all the Intermountain states for tournament play.

In 2015, Kate earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Santa Clara University, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Regis University in Denver, CO where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Kate was a highly skilled and valued member of the hospital community, working as a nurse and a charge nurse for six years on Medical/Surgical and stepdown ICU floors, including the two years of the pandemic.  She enjoyed playing with her dog, hiking, drinking wine with friends and skiing on warm days.  She recently attended the Taylor Swift concert in Denver saying it was the best concert ever!

Kate is survived by her loving family – parents Elizabeth and Tony Carroll, her brother Matt of Berlin Germany, grandparents Paul and Mary Ann Savulis of Bristol, CT, her “Auntie Pasta”, Patty Curtis, Uncle Tim Curtis and cousin Madison Curtis of Farmington, CT, her Uncle Chris Savulis and Barbara Lagasse of New Britain, CT and other close family members and friends.  She leaves behind her most beloved Mini Australian Shepherd Murphy, who misses her terribly.  In keeping with her nature, funeral services are private and for immediate family only.

In honor of her life, her love of tennis and her years at Regis Jesuit, Kate’s family kindly invites you to contribute to Regis Jesuit High School as we create a memorial in Kate’s name at the new tennis facility opening in 2024.  For more information or to make a donation, please visit Kate’s Memorial Page.

Donations can also be made in Kate’s name at the University of Colorado Hospital Foundation “Nurse Employee Support Fund”.

Please share memories of Kate and condolences with the family by signing the online guestbook below.
