Karen J. White Mather, age 77 of Denver, CO passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at Sunrise Assisted Living at Cherry Creek, in Denver, CO. She was born on January 30, 1949, in Oklahoma City, OK, to the late Wiley W. White and Hazel Adelle White.
Karen loved reading, travelling, and playing bridge. She was an avid hiker taking amazing nature photographs, whether it was in the Colorado Mountains or during her many travels to France. She loved being an independent adventurer driving many Colorado Mountain passes during the Colorado spring and fall colors, to capture just the right images of landscapes, trees, and flowers. She also took many creative photos during her adventures in France in the small French Villages she stayed in or visited, to capture old world architectural styles, of windows, arch ways and doors all in vibrant colors.
During her career as a Grants and Loan Officer with the Gates Family Foundation, she travelled to many rural and remote communities to visit historic building restoration projects or community facility upgrade projects, she assisted in qualifying and enabling grant and loan funding.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley W. and H. Adelle White. She is survived by her son, Ian M. Mather; grandchild Lyla G. Mather; brother Wiley W. White, Jr. (Dana L. White).
