Karen Lewis

March 10, 1945 — November 1, 2024

Thornton, Colorado

Karen Lewis, 79, peacefully entered her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2024 with her family by her side.

She was born in Piqua, Ohio in 1945 and a long time resident of Springfield, Ohio where she and Gary, husband of 47.5 years, raised their two children, Gary A. (Lori) Lewis of Milliken, Colorado and Sheri Lewis of Thornton, Colorado.

Karen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star (1973), Home City Chapter (#258) of Springfield, Ohio. She worked in the mortgage industry for over 23 years before retiring in March 1994 and moving with her husband to Colorado to be closer to her family.

Church was a big part of Karen’s life where she made an impact on many of those she met at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (Springfield, Ohio) and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (Thornton, Colorado) and the friends she met there will miss her service, laughs and smile.

Family was extremely important to Karen and a big part of her life. She cherished her grandchildren Kyle Lewis of Milliken, Colorado and Becky (Brett) Sorensen of Frederick, Colorado and as GG to her great-grandson, Oliver Sorensen. She left behind great memories to her sister, Rita Riley, sister-in-law Lynne Butcher, nieces Tracy Cochran (Matt Rowe), Kathy Lofing (Kelly), Julie Tate (Paul), Michele Campanaro (Dominic) and her nephew Todd Riley (Heather Wood), along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and mother (Robert and Lou Emma Butcher), father-in-law and mother-in-law (Albert and Inda Vaughn), husband (Gary C. Lewis), brother (Kenneth R. Butcher) and nephew (Steve Butcher).
