Justin Alan Coulson

March 11, 1981 — March 10, 2026

Morrison, CO

Justin Alan Coulson was born on March 11, 1981. When he was three months old, he came into the home of Tom and Linda Coulson as their third foster baby. In June of 1982, they joyfully adopted him, welcoming him as their first child to become the oldest of three siblings.

On March 10, 2026, the day before his 45th birthday, Justin passed from this earth into the presence of the Lord due to natural causes at the Lodge at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado.

Justin was homeschooled through ninth grade before attending Jim Elliot Christian High School in Denver. In his very first year, he was honored with the Jim Elliot Award, given to a student who demonstrates “a servant’s heart and a missions mind.” This recognition reflected what many saw in Justin throughout his life—his gentle spirit, compassionate nature, and desire to care for others.

Justin had a natural gift for music. He especially loved the piano and drums and could play them with remarkable intuition and expression. At Jim Elliot, he played drums in the school’s praise band and also participated in drama productions. Music was one of the ways Justin shared both his creativity and his love for the Lord.

Justin was also active in Boy Scouts through Troop 794 at Mission Hills Church in Littleton, Colorado, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Jim Elliot Christian High School in 1999 and later attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, completing two years of study.

Justin’s battle with Schizophrenia began early in his adult life and included seasons of struggle. Even in those difficult chapters, Justin remained a deeply loving person capable of kindness, connection, and faith. Those who encountered him often experienced his warmth, his humor, and his contented heart. Justin touched many lives, often in quiet and unseen ways. His life was a beacon reminding us that we never know what another soul is going through, and to - like Justin - always be gentle and kind.

Justin held a sincere love for Jesus and a faith that remained part of his life story. Those who knew him remember his musical talent, his servant’s heart, and the moments of genuine joy and compassion he shared with others.

Justin is survived by his parents, Tom and Linda Coulson; his younger brother, Colin Coulson and his wife Cortney, along with their children Henry and Freya of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and his younger sister, Caley Copeland and her husband Bo, along with their children Zeke and Eli of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Dixon Chapel at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch. The date and time will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
