June Ellen Thompson McIntosh, born on June 5, 1930, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025 surrounded by her family at home. She was preceded by her husband, David McIntosh in 2019; her parents, Francis and Lillie Thompson, and three siblings. She is survived by four daughters: Dorothy Diane Sellers (Jaye), Ruth Ann Tibbles (Jim), Jeanette Kay McClary (Mike), and Karen Sue Sward (Larry, deceased); 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and foster-son, Bill Jones (Joan).
June was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Her family moved to Fort Meade Army Base in 1942. She attended Arundel High School where she graduated in 1947 as a precocious sixteen-year-old.
When she was 18, June met her “soldier boy”, David, who she was married to for 70 years. They moved back to David’s hometown of Crescent, Iowa to be close to his very large family (he was one of 12). They raised their girls and entertained family and friends over many, many happy years. After retiring as the Manager of Metpath Labs, June spent her time traveling with David, creating ceramics, quilting, baking cakes, and being surrounded by extended family.
Per June’s request, she has been cremated. The family appreciates thoughts and prayers.
