Judy Jo Colvin (née Kinzie), age 85, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, in Jupiter, Florida. Born on January 9, 1941, in Winona, Minnesota, Judy's life was a rich tapestry of love, adventure, and cherished memories.
Judy grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where the Mississippi River and the surrounding bluffs became the backdrop of her childhood. She spent her early years climbing the bluffs, exploring the scenic beauty of the area, and traveling down the river on houseboats with family and friends. After graduating high school, Judy briefly attended college before deciding to pursue a different path. She moved to Milwaukee and began working at Koehring Company, where she dedicated herself to a lifelong career. It was there that she met her soulmate and the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Colvin. The two married and built a beautiful life together.
Judy and Bob settled in Brookfield, Wisconsin, where they cultivated a stunning yard filled with vibrant flowers and wildlife. Judy found immense joy in gardening and even had the unique experience of feeding deer by hand. They purchased a condo in Jupiter, Florida, which later became their forever home upon retirement. Their days there were filled with simple pleasures-sitting on their balcony overlooking the Intercoastal Canal and the Jupiter Lighthouse, walking along the beach in search of sea turtle nests, and enjoying breathtaking sunsets. Their home was always open to family and friends, who were greeted with warm waves from their balcony as they crossed the bridge onto the island.
Judy's love for animals was a defining part of her life. She adored her two dogs, Patsy and Ditto, as well as her horse Pandora. Sea turtles held a particularly special place in her heart; she frequently visited the Loggerhead Marinelife Center to support their conservation efforts. Her connection to nature extended to her time spent by the intercoastal waters near her home in Jupiter, where she delighted in spotting manatees, stingrays, and other wildlife.
Judy loved her role of Aunt and Great Aunt to Steve Goodland (Sheri), the late Greg Goodland (Amy Laufer), and Tia Warmington (Mike), Ryan Goodland (Evan Leslie) Jeffrey Goodland, Brooke Goodland (Mark Johnson), Taylor Warmington and Kasey Warmington. To her niece Tia, Judy was much more a mother figure than an aunt, a relationship that Tia has always cherished.
Although Judy did not have children of her own, she embraced her role as a stepmother to Greg Colvin, Hal Colvin, Lisa Colvin (Mary Grinnell), Beth Colvin, the late Scott Colvin (Mary) and Johanna Christensen (Byron). She also deeply loved her grandchildren, Joey Carter, Jay Carter, Jolise Macina (Matthew), Hage Inscore, Danielle Horner (Alex), Jesse Christensen (Siena), Christopher Colvin, Dallin Christensen, Eva Colvin, Taisiya Colvin, and her six great-grandchildren Andrea Carter, Gracie Carter, Brian Carter, Liam Horner, Sophia Horner, Isaac Horner.
Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob, her parents Harold and Beverly Kinzie, her sister Karen Goodland, brother-in-law John Goodland, nephew Greg Goodland, stepson Scott Colvin, and great-grandson Tye Horner. Despite these losses, Judy's enduring spirit brought comfort to those around her.
Judy's legacy is one of warmth and generosity. She welcomed her loved ones into her life with open arms and an open heart. Whether it was hosting cookouts by the intercoastal or simply sharing moments of quiet beauty by the ocean waves, Judy created memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Countless others who knew her felt her unwavering love and kindness. We want to express our deepest love and gratitude to Linda, Tommy & Victoria Gilbert for everything they have done in caring for Judy. They were always there for her, and she truly loved them as family.
May Judy Jo Colvin's memory bring peace and comfort to those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the joy she brought into this world.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Horan & McConaty 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Viewing is the same day from 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM.
