Judith Elaine Petty

Judith Elaine Petty was born on September 11, 1954, in Denver, Colorado, to Joseph Thomas Neel and Bertha Antoinette Neel (née Sandberg).

Judy loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and attending family events. She was the best fisherman. She created the best stories. She was the biggest kid in the whole family. She could make anything fun and memorable.

Over the years, Judy worked as an in-home caretaker, machine operator, and census taker. She later helped take care of her mother, stepmother, and father. Her favorite ‘job’ was Grandma. She loved little kids and babies. She had a knack for teaching and raising children.

Judy was known for her kindness, humor, and unwavering support for her family. She was a caretaker, a teacher, and a friend to everyone she met. She had an influence on everyone who crossed her path. Judy built a loving and welcoming home for all. She was our rock and biggest supporter. She had a smile that shined brightly. Most of all, she was a loving Wife, a Mom, and a Grandma.

Words cannot express how much she was loved and how deeply she will be missed.

Judy is survived by her husband, Gregory Petty, and her four children and eight grandchildren: Ronnie Brake (Jordie Brake), Tommy Brake (Desiree Brake) and their children Emily, Tommy Jr., Katie, Joey, Braylon, and Izzy; Gennica Petty (Bradley Kotch) and their daughter Reyna; and Geoffrey Petty (Alexis Petty) and their son Graeme. She is also survived by her brothers, Eric Neel (Franci Neel) and Brian Neel (Nica Neel).

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Neel, and her parents, Joseph (JoAnne) Neel and Bertha Neel.

Services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Horan & McConaty in Thornton, Colorado. A small reception will be held afterwards at the same location.
