Obituary

Judith “Judi” Lynn (Olson) Sullivan passed peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Colorado at the age of 83.

Born on January 2, 1943, in Appleton, Wisconsin, Judi was the daughter of Lynos C. Olson and Helen Kangas Olson. Raised in a close-knit Lutheran family and proud of her Scandinavian heritage, she carried a lifelong devotion to faith, family, and compassionate service.

Judi attended St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Grade School and Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, earning a degree in Medical Technology, and later received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She went on to serve others through her work as a pharmacist, bringing intelligence, care, and dedication to all who knew her professionally and personally.

On October 25, 1973, Judi married John Frederick (“Jack”) Sullivan in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Together they built a loving blended family grounded in faith, loyalty, and enduring commitment. Judi treasured her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, embracing each branch of the family with warmth and love.

Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. Judi was active in WELS World Missions humanitarian outreach efforts supporting work in Russia, Bulgaria, and Albania from 1993 to 2003. She found comfort and joy in scripture and beloved hymns including In Christ Alone, How Great Thou Art, Asleep in Jesus, and I Know That My Redeemer Lives. Philippians 4:4–7 held special meaning for her.

Judi is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Sullivan; children Tara (Gaulke) McLaughlin and Todd Gaulke; John “Mike” Sullivan and his wife Lisa Polsky; Michelle Sullivan and her husband Dave Conlin; grandchildren Abigail McLaughlin and Miles Sullivan; her brother Dennis Olson and his wife Madelyn, nephews Chad Olson; Ryan Olson (Michelle); Erik Olson; Kris Olson (Lori); niece Amy Olson Gunderson (Terry Vick); nephew Martin Olson Gunderson (Lynne); cousins ; extended family; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynos and Helen Olson, and her brother, Alan Richard Olson.
