Joyce Naomi Johnson

December 12, 1942 — April 6, 2023

Our dear mother and grandmother, Joyce Naomi Johnson sadly passed away into the arms of Jesus at age 80 on April 6th, 2023. She will be missed!

She lived in sunny California for her younger years. While there she worked at Coke Cola for a brief period, but then realized how much she loved being around people that were in the hospital or nursing homes. She wanted to help them by feeding them healthy meals and preparing menus that would help them heal and thrive. She continued to serve people by becoming a dietician. She used her skills and talents of cooking as an employee of several hospitals and nursing homes throughout Colorado.

At home, Joyce could make something for dinner out of nothing. She could take a few ingredients and make a delicious dish! She loved all types of food, but especially Italian and Mexican food, but she could cook any kind of food and make you feel like you have just eaten at a restaurant.  Her Swedish Meatballs and Chocolate balls were the best!

She married Raymond Johnson on May 13, 1967.  He was the love of her life.  They moved to Denver, Colorado soon after they honeymooned in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.  Colorado provided many opportunities for hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountains that took up much of their free time. Estes Park, Colorado was one of her favorite places! Watching the elks and other wildlife were a joyful experience.  They especially loved to take their grandchildren hiking and camping. They both caught the traveling bug, so they purchased an RV and had many adventures.  They traveled to many locations in our country but they especially enjoyed Mount Rushmore and even went to the west coast.

Joyce lived a fulfilling life as a mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend. She loved horses and rode her own horse for many years. She loved her children and grandchildren so much! Spending time with them brought joy to her!  She collected Southwestern Art and Native American Art, especially RC Gorman’s. In addition, she enjoyed singing and in her younger years sang in a church choir, and would sing around the house.

She is survived in this world by several family members, a son, Erik and his beautiful wife, Sharon, and a daughter Jacquie, as well as grandchildren Jennifer Cupich, Justin Cupich and his lovely wife Kyanne, Ella Johnson, Connor Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson, and Keith Erin Johnson Hopkins. Those she will meet in heaven are her husband Raymond, her son Keith, her parents, her brother, and many other loved ones.

Her Celebration of Life will be April 24th at 1:00p.m. at Mission Hills Church located at 620 Southpark Dr.  in Littleton, Colorado. In lieu of flowers , please make a donation to the Senior Resource Center – https://www.srcaging.org or 3227 Chase St, Denver, Colorado 80212.
