Joyce June Martin

Joyce J Martin of Littleton, Colorado, born July 17, 1936, passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 21, 2026, at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Arthur L Martin Jr whom she married in 1964 and was married to for 43 years before he passed away in 2007.

Joyce was born and raised in Hackettstown, NJ to her late parents, William and Dorothy Hartzell. She graduated from Hackettstown High School in 1954 and soon after, attended Centenary College, then she moved to New York and attended Columbia University where she took some general courses.

While living in New York, she ended up getting a job with Mountain Bell. A short time later, she was introduced to and married her husband Arthur Jr. They moved around from New Jersey to Arizona and finally settled in Colorado near Arthur’s parents.

Joyce is survived by her four children, Arthur Martin III, Craig Martin (spouse Lori Martin), Carolyn Zumbach (spouse Craig Zumbach) and Holly Melka (spouse Todd Melka), her sister Nancy Current (spouse Allen Current), brother William Hartzell and family, eight grandchildren, Grant (spouse Savannah), Geofery (spouse Taylor), Justin, Allie (fiancée Ben) and Evan, Zach, Victoria, Kylee (fiancée Tanner), two great grandchildren, Jack and Emily and one on the way, Jace. Joyce was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother Warren Hartzell, who was survived by his wife and family.

Joyce enjoyed her private life surrounded by family. She enjoyed cooking and having family gatherings. She was artistic and enjoyed painting, puzzles and games like Trivia, Bingo among others. When she was younger, she loved playing sports with the boys and joined bowling leagues while her children were young. When her kids were old enough for her to go back to work, she worked in the telecommunications industry as an office manager and receptionist and then later spent time volunteering to help kids struggling with reading, writing and math at local elementary schools.

A funeral service will be held for Joyce on Friday, 5/29/26 at 10:30am at Horan and McConaty Funeral Service, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227. Internment will follow service at Littleton Cemetery, 6155 S Prince St, Littleton, CO 80120.
