Joseph M. Gallegos

Joseph M. Gallegos departed peacefully from this world on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family and the cherished memories of all who were fortunate to have known him throughout his full and blessed life.

.Joseph grew up in LaJara, Colorado as a third generation Coloradoan. He learned how to work hard alongside his family on their ranch. He married the love of his life, Erma Martinez Gallegos, and after working at various occupations in the mountains of Colorado he moved his family to Westminster, Colorado in 1969. He retired from Coors Brewery after 25 years.

After his family, what brought Joe the most joy was participating in his faith community. He was devoted to the Catholic church and living out his faith. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered his time and talents all the way to becoming a 4^th Degree Knight. He also held the honor of being the Grand Knight for 2 terms.

Joe did not know a stranger and along with Erma, taught his family tolerance, respect, and love for all.

He is survived by his wife, Erma, their daughters Kathleen Gonzales, Jeannie Gallegos, and Peggy Martinez (Ken). Grandchildren Joseph Gonzales (Taylor), Alisha Martinez, Chelsea Dorman (Aaron) and Victoria Martinez.  Great grandson Bastian Gonzales. Brother Richard Gallegos (Lorraine). Rondee, Alan & Jacob Sutton (Katie Kelly) – his family by affection. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Candelaria Gallegos; siblings Patricia, Paul, Carla and David; and son-in-law Rodney Gonzales.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Joseph's life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Saint Mark Catholic Church, 3141 W. 96^th Avenue, Westminster, Colorado. Viewing from 10:00-10:30 am, Rosary from 10:30-11:00 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow at Saint Mark Parish Center. We invite you to attend all or part of this special service. Interment will take place at a later date for immediate family.
