Joseph Charles Brisnehan, age 63, beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at Sandalwood Care Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Joseph “Joe” was born in Denver, Colorado on April 17, 1963, to James L. Brisnehan and Kathleen (Callahan) Brisnehan. He was the eldest of five children and shared a close bond with his siblings throughout his life.

Joe attended Alcott Elementary and Holy Family for grade school. After the family moved from north Denver, he continued his education at Hodgkins Junior High and graduated from Westminster High School, Class of 1981. He went on to complete two years of culinary training at Warren Tech and began his working career in the restaurant industry. Later, he transitioned into carpentry, where he worked for many years with the Golesh Door Company. In an exciting final career chapter, Joe took on a role with close friends at Stages Cycling in Boulder, Colorado, where he helped produce power meters and indoor cycling equipment.

Joe took great pride in his home on South Bannock Street in Denver, where he became known for his festive spirit—especially his elaborate Halloween and Christmas decorations, which brought joy to neighbors and friends alike.

He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: playing softball, attending rock concerts and Colorado Rockies games, playing the guitar, and spending time on the golf course. Joe was also deeply generous with his time, volunteering countless hours as a handyman for the Environment Committee at St. Elizabeth’s Church in downtown Denver. Whether fixing what was broken, helping someone move, or lending a hand with a project, Joe was often the first to show up.

Joe faced significant health challenges throughout his life. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12, he remained diligent in managing his health. At 52, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and later endured additional complications that ultimately led to the loss of his leg. Through it all, he demonstrated remarkable resilience and quiet strength.

He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Brisnehan, who passed away on January 23, 2026. Joe is survived by his mother, Kathleen “Kathy” Brisnehan; his siblings, Jim (Louise), Colleen, John (Jean), and Charleen (Griffin) Wetzstein; his nephews, James, Adam, Ryan (Abby) and their daughter Pia, John, and Jake; and his niece, Lizzie.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff and hospice team at Sandalwood Care Center for the compassionate care they provided Joe over the past two years.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4346 Utica Street, Denver.
