John Maurice Thunblom

Reverend Mr. John M. Thunblom, of Aurora, passed away October 28, 2014 at the age of 78. He was born April 7, 1936 in Queens, New York to John and Grace Thunblom. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elaine (Feitz) Thunblom; children Christopher (Jennifer) Thunblom and Marianne Thunblom; grandchildren Avery, Neilan, Jazzmine and Jeffrey Thunblom; sister Mary Hannon. He was preceded in death by son Eric Thunblom. Deacon John graduated with an engineering degree from City College of New York and received his MBA from Creighton. He worked for the Bell system for 38 years but his true love was the diaconate. He was ordained May 21, 1991. The family will accept friends beginning at 4:00 in the afternoon on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue in Aurora. Office of the Dead will begin at 5:00 followed by a vigil service at 5:30 in the evening. The funeral mass will take place on Monday, November 3, 2014 beginning at 9:00 in the morning at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 13120 E Kentucky Ave in Aurora. Following a reception at the church, burial will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
