John Russell (Jack) Staker passed away much too soon at 32 years of age on the morning of July 5, 2026.
Even as a very young boy, Jack had an ever-curious, inquisitive and deeply thoughtful mind beyond his years. His parents and teachers, though sometimes vexed, took great joy in his very adult perspectives and at times challenging questions.
Jack was a loving son and big brother. From his earliest days he dearly cared for and watched out for his “baby sister”. He was an extremely affectionate and loving child and was always quick to hug, kiss and snuggle up with a book before bedtime.
Jack treasured the outdoors, whether in the mountains, hiking, or walking his dog in the park. His love and wonder for nature, the world, and universe was infectious and a joy to behold.
Jack cherished cooking time with his dad and preparing food for his family. His love for family was on display with the joy, care and effort that he put into every meal.
Jack enjoyed lively discussions and questioned everything… current events, politics, world history or the latest advances in science & technology. He had an insatiable desire to learn and loved to share thoughts and ideas with family and friends and was equally curious to hear their opinions.
Jack was extremely blessed to have close, long-time friends that were very dear to him. He was always concerned with their happiness first and foremost. His strong sense of loyalty & empathy was evident in his words, thoughts and actions.
Jack is survived by his loving sister Emily, his parents Sam and Kathleen, his cat Sal and his beloved black lab Athena.
