John Michael Hoskins

John Hoskins, a beloved husband, father and friend, passed away on August 10, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on September 2, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Homer Edward Hoskins and Nancy Myrl Osborne Hoskins, John lived a life that touched countless hearts and left an enduring mark on all that had the honor of knowing him.

A 1967 graduate of Wichita Falls High School, John remained connected with many of his classmates throughout his life. He later attended Midwestern University and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

John’s career took him through publishing, church administration, planned giving, stewardship and philanthropy. He worked as a Regional Manager for McGraw-Hill from 1973 to 1979, followed by roles at First Presbyterian Church in Garden Grove, California, and Village Presbyterian Church. He later served as a Regional Manager for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation and as Director of Gift Planning at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Denver. In 2001, he joined Saint Francis Ministries, where he spent nearly 20 years and served as Senior Philanthropic Advisor and Vice President of Marketing before retiring in 2020.

John moved to Denver in 1992, and it remained his home for the rest of his life. The following year, he married Becky Leibman, beginning more than three decades of life together. They had a shared love of sports, music, performing arts and could spend hours at the corner of a bar just talking about life, family and friends. John never met a bookstore, briefcase or device he didn’t love. He was known for his quick sense of humor and the ability to make anyone laugh or smile.

Travel became an especially meaningful part of John and Becky’s life together. Marco Island was an important part of the life they shared and a place where they shared countless special moments, including their vow renewal and birthday celebration, and more beautiful sunsets than we can count. In their later years, they enjoyed many cruises and adventures together. When asked which cruise was his favorite, John’s answer was usually the same: the one he had just returned from.

St. John was the patron saint of friendship – and our John followed that same path. He loved people, enjoyed conversation, and had a way of making friends wherever he went. Whether through his work, his travels, or simply everyday encounters, John genuinely enjoyed getting to know people and staying connected with them. John’s presence, wit and wisdom were true gifts for those of us lucky enough to have him in our lives. Those that loved him remember him as someone in a class of his own, a good friend and valued member of all of the circles, personal or professional, that he was part of and someone who could laugh with others at the irony of life. He was a confidant and trusted advisor to so many.

John is survived by his wife, Becky Leibman; and his children, B.J. Hoskins (Rachel), Emily Cunningham (Cameron); and his stepchildren, Chrissie Leibman White (Greg), Mark Leibman (Gaia) and Peter Leibman (Courtney). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dirk Hoskins, Derek Wilson, Reese Cunningham, Theodora Leibman, Wade Hoskins, Brynn Cunningham, and Mia Leibman.

A Celebration of Life honoring John will be held on September 18, 2026, at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service and Cremation, South Metro, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado 80122. The visitation will be from 11:00AM – 1:00PM with a service to follow at 1:00PM. A reception will occur immediately following the service at his home where we will raise a glass and toast to our favorite memories with him.
