John (Jon) Albert McCormick, 88, of Northglenn, Colorado, passed away on May 3, 2026, surrounded by his four children.
John was born on August 15, 1937, to John H. and Rose Marie (Green) McCormick in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Sylvia (Ignasik), Shirley (Tunelius), and June (Miller). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra; his four children, Kelly Dunahay (Dan) of Broomfield, CO, Kristen McCormick of Denver, CO, Craig McCormick (Candace) of Parker, CO, and Jon Patrick McCormick (Sandra) of Lisle, IL; five grandchildren, Jared Dunahay (Sarah) of Manchester, NH, Sarah Dunahay of Arvada, CO, Ethan McCormick of Tempe, AZ, Brianna McCormick and Madeline McCormick of Lisle, IL; one great‑granddaughter, Maeve Dunahay of Manchester, NH; his sister, Marlene Stoddard of Pulaski, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from New Castle High School and later joined the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania, where he proudly served for 6 years. John was employed by United Airlines as a ramp service agent and aircraft fueler—5 years in Cleveland, OH, and 33 years in Denver, CO—retiring after 38 years of dedicated service.
John was a member of the IAM Aircraft Workers Union, a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus beginning at age 18, and a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Northglenn, CO, since its founding in 1967.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling throughout the United States and abroad. Above all, he cherished time spent with his beloved children and grandchildren.
He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many friends and especially by his loving family. May he rest in peace in the hands of God.
Visitation will be held on May 25, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
Funeral Mass will be held on May 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with a private interment at Broomfield County Commons Cemetery. A reception will follow after the interment at Immaculate Heart of Mary.
