John Charles Kanack, 58, of Mallard, Iowa, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado, following a courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer.
Born on December 30, 1967, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, to Maryetta “Mary” and Dale Kanack, John grew up with the proud roots of a small-town, Midwestern farm kid. He lived a vibrant life defined by a heart of gold, an unyielding zest for living, and a wonderfully sharp, candid wit that always kept those around him laughing.
John’s journey was rich with experience. He proudly served his country for a time in the National Guard before finding his true professional calling in information technology. A man of immense ambition, intelligence, and determination, John rose from working at a mid-sized corporation to co-founding Envision IT Partners in July 2003, where he served with distinction as the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
While he achieved great success in his career, John’s greatest joy was his family. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. John was a man of integrity and loyalty, but he was equally celebrated for his fun-loving spirit. He was famous for co-planning spontaneous family trips, initiating casual card game marathons, and cooking up the absolute best food around. He carried a unique sense of humor and a trademark direct delivery that made him unforgettable, qualities that shone brightly alongside the incredible strength and resilience he showed during his illness.
John’s legacy of love, laughter, and determination lives on in the hearts of those he loved most. He is survived and profoundly missed by his beloved wife, Rachel; their cherished children, Ashleigh and Tyler; his loving parents, Mary and Dale Kanack; his supportive sisters, Rachel, Angela, and Ingrid; his adored grand-dogs, Charlie and Theo; and his loving extended family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, 5/30/26 at 12:00PM at the Eisenhower Chapel, in Lowry (Denver). The family kindly ask that you wear something yellow to the event as that was John’s favorite color.
